Bernard "Chuck" Hofmann

August 15, 1932 — January 5, 2010

Bernard C. (Chuck) Hofmann Jr. - 77, passed away quietly in his sleep at the Veteran's Home in Columbia Falls, Montana on January 5, 2010. He was born August 15, 1932 in Yuma, Arizona.

Chuck proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being shot during battle at the young age of 18. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson where he graduated in 1957 with a degree in Personnel and Public Relations. He married Dorothy Ann Jeffery in 1956 and started a family. He moved his wife and infant daughter to Tacoma, Washington where he began a 25 year career with Puget Sound National Bank. He retired as the Assistant Vice President of Puget Sound National Bank in Morton, WA where he lived with his then wife Beverly Wardwell Hofmann. He lived out his last years in Montana.

Chuck enjoyed participating in various sports including baseball, hockey, handball, bowling, golf, pool and many other sports. He had a great love and respect for the outdoors, where he spent countless hours with friends and family roaming the forests hunting elk, deer and grouse. He was an avid fisherman. Chuck loved playing Cribbage and spent thousands of hours playing with his parents, friends, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter Shelley and husband Pete Laine of Victor, MT, four sons, David Hofmann of San Diego, CA, Greg Hofmann of Las Vegas, NV, Greg and wife Patience Wardwell of Beaverton, OR and Glen Hofmann of Ketchikan, AK, eleven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, his brother Mark and wife Marilyn Hofmann of Puyallup, WA, his sister Rosana and husband Harold Hefley of Eatonville, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother Pearl McEwen Hofmann, his father Bernard Charles Hofmann Sr., his grandson Luke Flint and several nieces and nephews.

A full military service and memorial will take place on March 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Eatonville, Washington at the Eagles Club.
