HAMILTON - Elizabeth Curtis Weis "Beth" ,39, of Hamilton, left us Thursday, February 19th at St. Patrick's Hospital due to complications after a short bout with Leukemia. She was born on Nov. 26, 1969 in Hamilton, Montana to Frank Curtis and Jonell Curtis Schaffer.
She attended Hamilton and Lindbergh High Schools. She was thrilled when she received a basketball scholarship to Olympic Community College. She studied biology at Western Montana College and the University of Montana earning an associates degree. She was employed by Corixa and then Glaxo Smith Kline as a supervisor.
She married Sunny Burnette in 1988. Casey Alaina was born in 1990. She later married her true love, Martin Weis, in 1998. With Casey, they made their first home together in Corvallis. Later they moved to family property on Skalkaho Highway where they built her dream house in the mountains.
Horseback riding, basketball, softball, and volleyball were all activities she enjoyed with family and friends. She also enjoyed coaching her daughter's many sports. Beth was very competitive hating to lose at cards and other games.
Beth was loved by many people for her outgoing personality and made all who knew her feel special even after being diagnosed with leukemia. She was quick to help out those in need, lend a shoulder to cry on, teach valuable lessons or just listen to a problem. Most of all she knew how to have a good time and keep those close to her laughing.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank and brother Lloyd and is survived by her husband Martin, daughter Casey, both of Hamilton, MT; mother Jonell Curtis Schaffer of Stevensville, MT; brother Franklin Curtis; sisters Ellen (Dusty) McKern and Mary (Cregg) Buckallew along with her nephews and nieces Sean, Evan, Haylee and Ashlynn of Hermiston, OR .
The family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions to Casey's college fund can be made at Farmers State Bank, any location, to the Beth Weis Memorial Fund.
