Bonnie Sue (Burchnell) Cavill, aged 83, long-time resident of Victor, Montana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family the evening of Thursday, November 21, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings Lloyd, Tom, Chuck, Dan, and Ron, and the love of her life, husband John E. Cavill. She is survived by her sister Penny, brothers Tim and John, her three sons John (Laura), Darrell (Jessie), and Carlin (Aimee), along with grandchildren Derrick, Colton, Nicole, John Garret, and Callie.
Bonnie lived her younger years in Ohio, the oldest of 9 children. When she was eighteen she joined the US Army and was stationed in California in the motor pool. During her time there, she met John Cavill, who was also in the Army. It was love at first sight and they soon married, together for 36 years until John’s untimely death in 1997.
As John was a native of Montana, they relocated there after their Army service. Living for a time in Missoula, they then moved their family to Victor upon finding their forever home, a small ranch where John raised cattle and Bonnie made their house a home. She busied herself raising her three sons, tending to a large garden each summer, making delicious freezer jams and homemade pies (she was known for her beautiful strawberry pies especially), and the most wonderful cookies and candies at Christmastime. She was also known for her delicious homemade chocolate sauce, which she always seemed to have vanilla ice cream on hand for as an after-dinner treat. Some of her favorite pastimes were cheering for her boys and, later on, her grandchildren at their various sporting events, (she was very proud of her family and all of their accomplishments); tending to her many treasured pets; she enjoyed making Christmas as festive as she could; and in the summertime, enjoyed relaxing in the yard late afternoon with a glass of iced tea in the sun.
She did work occasionally outside the home over her lifetime, as a teller at Citizen’s Bank, in housekeeping at Marcus Daly Hospital and then volunteering later on at Victor Elementary School. She was known affectionally to many as Ms. Bonnie. She was a good neighbor and friend to countless people and will be greatly missed. Her three sons remained devoted to her and the life she and John had created for them all the days of her life. Her beloved family finds peace in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband John once again, in Heaven.
A special thank you to Ann Groff, for her unwavering friendship over many years, which meant the world to Bonnie.
There will be no memorial at this time, however there will be a celebration of life in the spring.
