Carl Brown

January 10, 1940 — July 21, 2009

The Bitterroot has lost a colorful character with the death of Carl Brown, who passed away on Tuesday, July 21, in Hamilton, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Carl was born in Florida on January 10, 1940, but if you heard him say that he was from Texas, Oklahoma or Georgia, it's not surprising, as at one time or another he claimed each of those states. Carl loved to talk and to tell stories - the taller the story the better as far as he was concerned. He knew no strangers, was definitely not shy, and loved zipping around town on his scooter. He was often to be found at garage sales where he bagged many treasures that he often shared with others. Carl loved animals and his cat Ernie was his pride and joy. Carl claimed to have worked with both cattle and horses during his working years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting - or at least talking about fishing and hunting. He was a member of the LDS Church of Hamilton. Carl leaves behind one sister, Joyce Warren of Florida, a brother Wallace Brown of South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his friend and hunting buddy Mike McLaughlin, and "sis", Carole Long of Hamilton.
Donations in Carl's name may be made to Bitterroot Humane Association, 262 Fairgrounds Road, Hamilton, or to the American Cancer Society.
