Carol E. (Elston) Dorrance

Hamilton, MT - Carol E. Dorrance, 88 of Hamilton passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.

Carol was born June 15, 1927 in Clifford, North Dakota the daughter of the late Isaac and Fem Umstad Elston. She graduated from Hope High School in Hope, ND in 1945. On March 2, 1946, she married Thomas L. Dorrance.  In the 1960's she built Dorrance's Drive-In in Hope.

Carol was active in the Senior Citizens Club and Sons of Norway. She enjoyed Pinochle, painting, fishing and was an avid reader. She loved to ski, dance and was a world traveler.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Boeder and brother, Orville Elston. Surviving include her children, Diane (Keith) Jacobson of Hope, ND., Kay (Ralph)

Dorrance of Anchorage, AK., and James (Terry) Dorrance of Gladstone, OR; grandchildren, Lisa (Rich) Sherrard, Jo (John) Bidwell, Nicole (Nate) Crouch, Tara (Shawn) Roark, Eric (Randi) Dorrance and Julie (Tomas) Zilka; great grandchildren, Alexandra Sherrard, Cameron Sherrard, Sydney Bidwell, Ingrid Bidwell, Nicholas Crouch, Kristian Roark, Sebastian Zilka and Caleb Zilka; sister, Janet Kainz of Hope, ND., and brother, Carl Elston of Mesa, AZ.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton, MT with Pastor Brenda Satrum officiating. An additional celebration of life service will be held in Hope, ND in July 2016.  The family suggests memorials to the Salvation Army.
