Charles Gregory Russ

Charles Gregory William Russ (Carl) was born on August 27, 1938 in New York City, Queens Borough. He left this earth to be with God and his parents and son on September 16th, 2023.

Carl graduated from Wagner College with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1963. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for 3 years. In 1966, he accepted a job for the Chemical Abstracts Service, an arm of the American Chemical Society, and worked there for 37 years.

Carl and Sandy were married on September 30, 1967, and enjoyed each other’s company, most of the time, for 55+ years. He and Sandy raised 3 children, Gregory, Ronald, and Katharine.

Carl gave of his time to his church, Special Olympics, and many other organizations; all one needed to do was ask. One of his favorites was singing in the Bitterroot Valley Chorus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Marie Russ and son, Gregory.

Carl left behind his wife Sandra Russ (Sandy) and children, Ronald (Suzanne), Katharine, and grandchildren, Anna and Owen.

A memorial service will be held Friday September 22.2023 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 171 Lewis Lane, Hamilton, MT.
