HAMILTON - Charles H. Vieth, 89, of Hamilton passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Valley View Estates. He was born June 2, 1922 in Eminence, MO the son of Henry and Emmaline Vieth.
Charles was raised and educated in Eminence. After graduating from high school he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. Charles then enlisted into the US Army and served as a Military Policeman in Germany during World War II.
After Charles was honorably discharged he returned to Eminence. Charles and his brother Bryan moved to Montana in 1945. There they 2 sisters, Edna and Dora Warren. Bryan married Dora and on May 10, 1947 Charles and Edna were married in Hamilton.
Charles worked at numerous places including the BAP Railroad in Anaconda, the Post Office in Hamilton, and Safeway in Hamilton. In 1967 Charles and Edna moved to Portland and then to Battleground, WA in 1973. Charles was the maintenance supervisor for the Battleground School District until retiring in 1987. Charles and Edna returned to the Bitterroot Valley in 1993. They were long time members of the Assembly of God Church.
Charles loved woodworking and built beautiful china cabinets and grandfather clocks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gregory Vieth; his brothers, Bryan, Jim and Roy Vieth; and his sister, Eunice King. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Edna, of Hamilton; his son, Stephen Vieth and wife Vickie of Hamilton; 3 brothers, Donald, Ronald and Bill Vieth all of Washington; his sister, Helen Rice of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Vieth of California, Japhen Vieth of Pennsylvania and Jamill Vieth of California; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
