Charlotte Elole Lawry
Hamilton, MT - Charlotte Elole Lawry (Char), 79 of Hamilton Montana passed away very peacefully with her family by her side at Marcus Daly Hospital on May 16, 2010.

Charlotte was born October 2, 1930 in San Francisco California to Richard and Lavern Fante. She was raised in the Bay Area, and later moved to Santa Rosa, California. She met the love of her life M. George Lawry and the two were married on July 1st 1950. Charlotte was a devoted mother and homemaker to her four children, Nancy, Scott, Steve and Sam. Char was a very active mother, raising four children and later in life making a home for two of her grandchildren after the premature death of her daughter Nancy Lee.

Char made time for giving back to the community. She taught Sunday school at the 1st Presbyterian Church and her home was always open to children of all ages. She was a devoted member and past president of the Xi Epsilon Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Santa Rosa. She had a long relationship with the Village Dress Shop in Montgomery Village as a cheerful sales person. She also modeled for Betty Clair's dress shop. "Soccer Moms" were not "invented" in the 60's, however by today's language she would be called a "super swimming mom" She served as "clerk of the course" for the Oak Park Otters swim club and a Mom not only to her children but the team as well. She loved sports and would be seen at every swim meet and track meet cheering her kids and others on. A die-hard 49er fan she would not miss a game to watch her team and Joe Montana.

Her contributions to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital were legendary as she acted and danced in the "High Fever Follies" as a major fundraiser for the hospital. For nearly 20 years she preformed and served as a talent chairperson in charge of coaching local doctors and dignitaries to perform in the Follies. Char also severed as the choreographer for Rincon Valley Junior High musical productions for Oliver, Hello Dolly, Music Man and Fiddler on the Roof.

Sadly, due to an accident, Char was confined to a wheel chair for the past seven years. In 2006, Char and her husband, George left their home on Brush Creek Rd. after 55 years and moved to Montana where she spent her last years. Being wheelchair bound did not prevent her from spending time telling stories to her grand children. Char always found good in people and her "Gift of Gab" brought many a laugh to friends, family and strangers alike. Her favorite TV program was "Dancing with the Stars" and that's where she is now, among the stars.

Char was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Nancy, who passed away in November, 1990. Left to cherish Chars memories are her husband George, and sons Scott (Debbie) and Steve (Mary) of Ventura California and Sam (Gwen) of Hamilton Montana. She leaves behind 9 grand children and 1 great grandchild, and may other people that were touched by her life.

Memorials may be given to The Santa Rosa Junior College Foundations, Dance Program, at 1501 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa CA 95401. A private service will be held in Santa Rosa this summer.
