Chester K. Wienke, 83, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Valley View Nursing Home in Hamilton. He was born August 10, 1928 in Richey, Montana, one of six children born to Henry and Mary Wienke.
Chet graduated from Richey High School in 1947. He married Louise Ferguson on April 14, 1951, and together they built the home they lived in for 54 years. They spent the majority of their lives in Wolf Point only moving to Hamilton because of Louise's failing health, she passed away May 9, 2007.
Chet enjoyed barbequing, gardening, golfing, and spending time with his family. His home was the center of many family reunions. When he wasn't playing cards with friends and family or helping Louise with the dishes, he was out tending to his garden or straightening out the garage. He worked at Farmers Union Lumber in Wolf Point for 40 years. He was their bookkeeper for 13 years and manager for 27 years. He retired in 1990. He took up golf after his retirement and enjoyed playing every day, either with friends or on a league.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and a sister; his youngest son, Don; and his wife, Louise.
Chet is survived by his sons, Wayne Wienke (Bonnie) of Weatherford, TX, Les Wienke (Ann) of Wolf Point; his daughter Lucy Buzzell of Hamilton; grandchildren, Adam, Alice, Aaron, Journey, Shadey, and Sage Wienke, Amber Clark, Tony and Joe Wienke, Alina Jones, Will, Russ and Jordan Buzzell; one great grandchild, Lane Wienke; and one brother, Stanley Wienke (Carol).
A private family interment took place in Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Wolf Point, Montana. Local arrangements were under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
