Missoula - Christula "Chris" Petri Hafer born October 6, 1940 entered into her celebration of life Sept 22, 2010.
She was born in Anaconda to Dena and Earl Petri. Chris attended grade school in Darby, Corvallis and Ovando and her High School years at Hamilton.
In 1959, Chris married Buck and they lived several different places in Montana and Idaho as he worked in logging and firefighting. In 1964 she settled into life as wife and mother when Buck took a position with Rocky Mountain Laboratory, they lived in Corvallis through 1988 and moved into Hamilton where in 1989 she retired from her 9-5 job to care for her mother and grandmother.
In 2002, she and Buck settled into their lifetime dream of living up Lost Horse Creek in Hamilton. She enjoyed the wildlife each day. Moving to Missoula in 2008 to be near medical providers, she adapted to city life quite well and became a typical "City Yuppie". She and Buck spent many hours shopping and bargain hunting at the local stores for the latest gadgets and gizmos.
Chris was an active member in her church family wherever she lived and was a helper to many family and friends throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by parents, Dena and Earl Petri; Brother, Tommie; Sister Georgia; infant sons, Darren and David and great grandson, Matthew.
Chris is survived by her husband of 51 years, Buck; daughter, Juanita and Jerry Baecht of Hamilton; sons, Dale and Amy Hafer of Roseburg Oregon, Eddie Hafer of Corvallis, George and Charlotte Hafer of Helena; 11 grandchildren, Tiphini and Kevin Campbell, Christopher and Teryn Baecht, Jeremiah and Candice Hafer, Candice Carroll, Brycon Peeples, Taryn Peeples, Jaryd and Devyn Hafer, Cheyanne and Nathanael Hafer; great grandchildren, Craig and Natalie Campbell, Natassja and Gavin Carroll, Jeremiah Hafer Jr. and Jasmine Miskovich; sisters, Irene Olson, JoAnn Beers and brother Earl Petri Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Our loving wife, mother grandmother, sister and friend leaves a little part of herself with each one of us and will be dearly missed.
