Once an immigrant from her first home in Germany to her new home in the United States, Christa is once again immigrating: immigrating back to her original and final home away from this Earth and into the presence of her Savior. On February 3, 2022, Christa was met with open arms as she was reunited with her love, Josef. As we grieve the loss of our mother and grandmother, Heaven rejoices at the homecoming of a good and faithful servant and at the reunion of a husband and wife.

Christa, the youngest of five children, was born in Hamburg, Germany on December 23, 1935. The world was in a chaotic state at that time and Christa was not immune to the effects of such. Despite the ravages of war cluttering her childhood, Christa grew to become a loving and fiercely compassionate woman. Christa married her sweetheart, Josef, and had two daughters, Sylvia and Carola, in Germany before immigrating to the United States. While in the United States, Christa went on to have three more children, Rosa, Christina, and Josef Jr. Despite the harshness of a war-torn childhood and the difficulty of leaving her family and home for a new country, language, and culture; Christa emulated a life filled with virtue and resilience. Through her example, she taught everyone that knew her about strength, vitality, and love. Christa was impressively frugal. She was tidy and could make a lot out of a little. She loved her flowers and they grew for her with a life of their own. Christa was a life-long learner and an example of what a thirst for knowledge should look like. She was a beautiful seamstress and could create masterpieces with a needle and thread. Christa’s testimony of her Savior was priceless, immeasurable, and sure. Proverbs tell us that the price of a virtuous woman is far above rubies. Christa’s price and worth was indeed far far above that of rubies, emeralds, diamonds, or gold.

Christa was preceded in death by her husband, Josef; her son, Joachim; three grandchildren; Josef, William, and Christa; a great-granddaughter, Vivian; a son-in-law, Ronald; and all four of her older siblings: Adalbert, Ruth, Siegfried, and Bruhhilde.  She is survived by her children Sylvia, Carola, Rosa, Abraham, Maria, Christina, Joey, Angelina, Katherina and her 46 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren! Her funeral service will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Pinesdale Chapel with burial to follow at the Pinesdale Cemetery. God be with you till we meet again.
