Clara M. Waliser, 88, died peacefully of natural causes on Friday, April 15th at Discovery Care, Hamilton, MT. She was born to Mary and Anthony Richter September 18, 1921 in Zeeland, ND. May 6, 1946 she married Nick A. Waliser, and they settled in Corvallis, MT.
They are the parents of 6 children; Elaine (Richard and son John) of Newman Lake, Washington, Irene (Butch and son Bradley) of Lewistown MT, Leroy (Linda) of Stevensville, MT, Emil (Pat) of Zap, ND, Mike (died at the age of 17) and Richard of Hamilton, MT.
Nick and Clara taught their children that the foundations of a good life included faith, hard work, friends and family, and playing pinochle. They instilled in their children that life is what you make it and each of us is responsible not only of ourselves but caring for one another.
They were so proud of their sons and daughters who in turn were proud of their parents. They all spent years working on the farm on Bass Lane, haying, combining, raising livestock, chickens, pigs and horses, and making a life of great memories.
Clara was known for her warm hospitality; unexpected company could always find a hot cup of coffee and a dessert. She crocheted beautiful doilies and table runners which are treasured gifts. She and Nick loved to play pinochle and took great joy in teaching their children this competitive game. Heated bidding wars and laughter at the kitchen table are a family legacy. The pinochle competition continues as a remembrance of our parents. Nick and Clara also played pinochle with their sisters, brothers and great friends almost every week, creating great memories of desserts and life-long friendships.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband (Nick in 1997), a son Michael in 1978, her parents and seven siblings. She has two brothers living, Joe (Colleen) of Hamilton, and Glen (Diane) or California and numerous nieces and nephews and two special grandchildren John and Bradley.
