Clarence Thomas Hazelbaker

Clarence Thomas Hazelbaker, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Born on June 20, 1915 not far from Devil's Tower in Hulett, Wyoming, Clarence was the youngest of four children born to Mary and Peter Hazelbaker.

Affectionately known as "Rainbow" to family and close friends, Clarence never married. He was too busy being a devoted son and brother, beloved uncle and great friend.

Clarence bought his ranch on Oil Well Road in Corvallis in 1964 and was a familiar figure in this small ranching community for many years, until he retired and moved to Hamilton in 1992.

Clarence enjoyed a long and healthy life, living independently until his stroke in 2003. He was a resident of Discovery Care Center for almost 8 years where they will always remember him for his bright smile and sense of humor.

Clarence was a good and loyal friend, always there to lend a hand, even when you didn't know you needed it! A rancher at heart, he was crazy about horses and cows...the Senior Pro Rodeo was one of his favorite events at the Ravalli County Fair each year. He enjoyed sharing lunch with anyone who would join him at one of the local eateries and, especially in his later years, he loved to socialize. Drives on the back roads of the Bitterroot Valley was one of his favorite past times...lunch included, of course!

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Peter Hazelbaker, and sisters Nellie Mae Krizo, Nora Ownbey, and Minnie Boyer. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and a great many friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Private interment will take place at Corvallis Cemetery.
