Curtis C. Cook

June 28, 1916 — December 5, 2011

HAMILTON - Curtis C. Cook, 95, of Hamilton passed away Monday, December 5, 2011,

at home. He was born June 28, 1916, in Hamilton, Montana, the son of Albert Levi

Cook and Ina Louise Abbey Cook.

His family moved to Missoula in 1919. Curtis attended schools in Missoula, elementary

through Law school. He was in the Army Air Force during WWII as a radar operator.

He finished law school after coming back from the war and became a practicing

member of the Montana Bar Association in 1947. He was the oldest practicing attorney

in the state of Montana at the time of his death.

On December 27, 1947 Curtis married Mary Lou Rasmussen. They moved to Helena

in June 1948 where Curtis was Assistant Attorney General. From Helena, they moved

to Hamilton in September, 1948 where they built their home and raised their family.

Curtis and Mary Lou enjoyed traveling taking trips to Alaska, Mexico, Canada and much

of the US. Curtis and Lualyce took trips to visit friends the last couple years.

He was active in many groups around the area. He was a member of the Masons,

Eastern Star, Grand Cross, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. Curtis

attended the United Methodist-American Baptist Church in Hamilton, and enjoyed

attending Continuing Legal Education courses. He was always interested and active in

community planning and work with numerous groups to preserve and improve our lives

in the Bitter Root Valley.

Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, parents, and 2 brothers and 2

sisters.

Survivors include his daughters, Irene L. Cook and Lualyce A. Cook and granddaughter

Amber A. Rodriguez all of Hamilton and nephews, nieces, and cousins around the

country.

He always had a song or poem to share and lived fully to the end. He always said,

"There are no atheists when your plane is crashing over Greenland."
