VICTOR - Cyril Kirk Richard, 61, of Victor, Montana passed away Friday evening in his home. He was born May 23, 1950 in Chicago to Benjamin and Shirley Richard.
Cyril "Cy" was raised in Chicago, and his family began traveling to Big Timber in summers with Cy's grandfather, the Late Cyril Kenneth Richard, who was the minister of the Ecumenical Church in Chicago for 52 years. Since the family loved their time in Montana, they purchased a ranch south of Big Timber in 1965.
Cy received his masters in marketing at MSU Bozeman and had undergraduate degrees in sociology and psychology. He also played 1 year of football at Montana State. After graduating he became a teacher in Casper, then moved to Jackson, Wyoming where he taught the DECA marketing class at the high school and also coached the ski team until the mid 1980's when he became a full time real estate broker. Cy founded the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Company in 1980 in Jackson and specialized in ranch and recreational properties, selling in four states. He was quite active in the community and was named "teacher of the year" at the Jackson High School, he was Realtor of the Year in 1989, served as Jackson Hole Board President, he was Wyoming Association of Realtors Vice President and a past President of Rotary International in Jackson, Wyoming.
In 1983 he married Donna Taylor and together they had their two sons Cyril Kenneth Richard II, and Taylor Kristopher Richard. Cy married his current wife, DeLona S. Richard from Pinedale, Wyoming in June of 2007 and he acquired two step-daughters, Channing Kay Winters and Robin Leigh Winters.
Cy was an avid fly fisherman and loved downhill skiing. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, scuba diving and golf. He loved and was very passionate about teaching his sons how to do all of these things. His favorite activity was traveling around with his wife and drift boat "just in case" they found a little time to fish when on real estate showings.
Cy was known by his family as the "Absent Minded Professor", although very brilliant, he would have trouble with all of his multi tasking. He could put a smile on anyone's face and was truly in his element when in the company of family and friends. Cy was a loving husband, father and friend and will be deeply missed.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Ravalli County Museum.
