Born in Whitehall, MT, in 1951, Dana was the second daughter of four in a Forest Service family. Among the family's many moves, she loved their home at the Meyers Creek Ranger Station in Nye, MT, best. She treasured spending time outdoors with the animals and enjoying the simple country life.
Dana was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, always with a compassionate ear and a caring heart. She was passionate about animals and advocated for the rights of homeless and abused animals. Her beloved pets were always members of the family.
Dana was an industrious, hardworking woman who endeavored to improve her home and property. She filled her home with antiques and vintage items to showcase her own unique style.
She worked at the Ravalli County Courthouse from 1996 to 2016 as the Deputy Clerk and Recorder. As a responsible member of the staff, she was always available to help wherever she was needed.
Instilled with a love of nature by her upbringing, Dana valued trees. Admiring Montana's bountiful trees, especially a beautiful oak tree outside her home, brought her sincere joy.
Preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Roxana, and her husband, Dave Ashman. She is survived by her beloved son, Russell Ashman, and sisters Becky, Eileen, and Sarahjane.
