HAMILTON – David Denis Copeland, age 73, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 29, 1951, to Bud and Pearl Copeland in Hamilton, Montana.
David dedicated over 20 years of his life to working as a small engine technician at Murdoch’s, where he became well known to his community. It was during this time that he met his beloved wife, Kim Berry. David had a passion for life that was reflected in his love for riding his Harleys, an activity that brought him immense joy.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Pearl Copeland.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Berry; his stepchildren, Krystle Berry of Olympia, WA; Bob (Tanya) Young of Rosemount, MN; Jodi (Rodger) Byrns of Coeur D’Alene, ID; and Doug (Tonya) Cook of Ionia, MI. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Wheeler Brown, Bonnie Northey, and Jeanette Copeland, all of Missoula; and his brother, Daryl Forslund of Hamilton.
In honor of David's adventurous spirit, the family plans to scatter his ashes in the spring during a Harley ride to one of his favorite places, celebrating his life and the joy he brought to those around him. There will be no formal services.
