Dean L. Walrod

Dean went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.

Dean L. Walrod was born January 27, 1937 in Glasgow MT the son of Lucille (Bishop) and Donald Walrod. He spent his first 5 years on a farm in Roundup, MT, the next five years in Billings, MT, before moving to Roy, MT. He graduated from Roy High School in 1955. Dean was very active in sports in high school and in Boy Scouts.

He married Mary Nicoliasen in 1957, three children were a result of this marriage, Julie, David and Dana. They later divorced. He lived in Columbus, MT where Dean owned and operated a service station, later he went to work for the railroad, and finally the Rural Electric.

Dean married Cheryl Krohmer in 1970 and was transferred to the Ravalli County Electric in Corvallis, MT. where he worked until his rheumatoid arthritis forced him to retire in 1979.

He was a member of the Hamilton Eagles Club where he served as trustee, NRA, Canyon View Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp with his family. He was a jack of all trades, loving to putter in his garage making things from wind chimes to wild game carts.

Dean and his wife Cheryl took over the Hamilton Boxing Club in 1975 where they coached for many years. He was a great boxing judge, coach and referee. He was involved with USA Boxing-MT where he held such offices as President, chief of officials, and Western MT delegate. He took many boxers over the years to regional tournaments and several national tournaments. He also worked with the youth at the Church. He loved to work with the youth, he especially loved to take his grandchildren hunting and fishing and spending time with his fourth day group.

Dean will be truly missed by his family, friends, and his community.

Waiting for Dean in Heaven are his grandparents, parents, nephew Donnie, sister Shirley, brother-in-law Jerry, and beloved grandson Jeremiah.

Dean is survived by his wife Cheryl of Hamilton; son, David (Jennifer) Walrod and grandson, Jeffrey Walrod and granddaughter Tia Mees; daughter, Julie (Rick) Daffin, grandson, Jesse (Ginger) Daffin and great granddaughters Grace and Rebecca, grandson, Josh Daffin(Heather) and great grandchildren Benjamin and Hailey, grandson, Jacob (Kelsey) and great granddaughter, Kaden; daughter, Dana (Bob) Stoker and grandson Jimmy; brother - Jim(Carol) Walrod; sister, Dolores Terpstra; many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. His loyal dog Keesha.

The family suggests condolences to a charity of the donor's choice.
