Corvallis

HAMILTON - Debra-Lee Galloway, affectionately known as "Little Deb", passed away on May 1, 2024, in Corvallis, Montana. Debra was born to Harry Smith Galloway and Jeanne Lee Galloway on December 2, 1954 in Red Oak, Iowa.

Deb's life was a journey full of family, friends and her beloved dogs. She had two siblings: sister, Lorri and brother, Stevie. During life in the Midwest, she played piano, danced, and loved the theatre. An inquisitive child, she remained so into adulthood. Her family moved west to Scottsdale, Arizona. In high school she excelled socially and academically, enjoying competitive swimming and cheerleading.  She entered the University of Arizona (Tucson) with a swimming scholarship in hand; also enjoying membership in Phi Beta Phi sorority.

Deb next moved to the Montana Bitterroot Valley to join her parents, who had settled near Sula. There she met Dave Mavros, her partner until she settled into her most current residence near Corvallis. They had lived several years in Hamilton

Debbie was a friend of Bill W. She demonstrated how to live life on life's terms. She enjoyed many friendships, entertaining all with her wit, zany persona and inspiring dedication to personal growth. Her chuckle was a sweet, appealing cackle.

Deb was in great demand as a dog-sitter and dog-walker. Her love of her's and other's dogs was legendary. She exercised the dogs while wearing thrift-store fashion, demonstrating her creative eye and enviable style. These walks along the Bitterroot River held special inspiration and serenity. Deb never realized how powerful she was with her enormous humility. She will be greatly missed and long remembered.

Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved parents; and sister, Lorri Salerno.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church (171 Lewis Lane) in Hamilton.  Attending will be a multitude of friends and family, including her brother Stevie, with his children Lucy and Harry; and Debbie's brother-in-law, Scott Salerno, with his children Shannon, Kristin and Scotty.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bitterroot Humane Association are suggested.
