Delbert Ronald Hopper

February 2, 1929 — January 1, 2010

STEVENSVILLE, MT - Delbert was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Jefferson Hendrickson and Wilma Cole Hendrickson. He moved to Canon City, Colorado where he grew up, attended school, worked and married his high school sweetheart, D'Ann N. Noller on July 19, 1948. His jobs included construction of grain elevators, general construction and communications for Mountain Bell Telephone, later to be Qwest where he retired after thirty years service.
He was a man of many skills and made time to expand his knowledge by attending many work related classes. He received a diploma in Radio, Television and Advanced Television from DeVry Technical Institute out of Chicago, Ill.
He and D'Ann moved to several towns in the central and southern states where his work took them and ended up in Colorado Springs where they raised their family and he retired.
After retirement, he spent a great deal of his time volunteering help through several charities. Delbert and D'Ann for the past five years have been on an extended visit with daughter Roberta and her husband Monty Merwin in Stevensville, Montana where he loved to help around the ranch and care for the animals. Delbert passed away at home from complications of diabetes after a fifty year fight.
He is survived by his wife D'Ann N. Hopper; son, Ronald D. Hopper and wife Susan of Bandon, Oregon; son, Roger D. Hopper, his wife Tracy and their daughters Rose and Raylena of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and daughter, Roberta N. and her Husband Monty Merwin of Stevensville, Montana.
Delbert's body, by his wishes, was donated to a medical college in Montana. It is a five state medical college known as WWAMI serving Wyoming, Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. He hoped that his donation would help doctors help others who suffer from diabetes. Delbert also requested that people donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Delbert was an honorable man who was much loved and is greatly missed by all his family.
