Dennis G. Jones

STEVENSVILLE - Dennis Glen Jones, son of Glen C. Jones and Arlene Williamson Jones, was born on May 25, 1934 in Charlotte, Michigan. He grew up in Charlotte, graduating from Charlotte High School in 1952, after graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corp for a four year tour of duty. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corp, he found employment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Here he met and married Brigitte Noetzel, in 1958. The couple had two children, Christine and Charles. Dennis returned to Michigan to attend Michigan State University. In 1962, he graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Po- litical Science. Securing a position with the U. S. Civil Service Commission, the family moved to Chica- go. He and Brigitte separated in 1964. Dennis married Carolyn Siegfried in 1965. They initially settled in Chicago where Dennis continued working for the Civil Service Commission and later for the Federal Aviation Administration. Dennis' employment eventually took the couple to Loveland, and Boulder, Colorado. In 1978, he transferred to the U.S Forest Service, working on the Clearwater Na- tional Forest in Orofino, Idaho and, later on the Rio Grande National Forest in Monte Vista, Colorado. In 1983, Dennis took an early retirement from the Forest Service and, in 1985, he and Carolyn moved to Montana's Bitterroot Valley. During his retirement in Montana, Dennis worked as a teacher's aide at the Corvallis High School: volunteered at the Daly Mansion, in Hamilton; served as president of the Bitterroot Art Guild; worked part-time at the Hamilton Kmart and grew raspberries and hay on his 20 acre farm near Stevensville, Montana.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn at the family home near Stevensville; his son Charles and fiancAC.e, Sherry of Cashmere, Washington; brother-in-law, Robert Siegfried and wife Paulette of Mullica Hill, New Jersey; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, step-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Kenneth Bailey, sister, Phyllis and daughter, Christine.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no memorial service, but an informal celebration of his life will take place at a later date. The family asks that those wishing to remember Dennis make a dona- tion to Feral Cat Rescue of Montana, P.O. Box 1018, Hamilton, MT 59840 or to the animal welfare association of your choice. Love of animals, especially cats, was a constant throughout Dennis' life.
