Dennis John Murphy

HAMILTON – Dennis J. Murphy, 76, of Hamilton passed away at Bitterroot Health Daly Hospital on Friday, September 26, 2025. He was born on November 10, 1948, in Miles City, Montana, to parents David and Alice (Meidinger) Murphy.

After graduating from high school in Great Falls, Montana, Dennis attended the University of Montana in Missoula. After serving in the United States Navy, Dennis went on to work for the City of Missoula as an inspector in the Engineering Department.

During his time in Missoula, Dennis met and married his beloved wife, Shirley, and became the father to Stephen Brunner-Murphy.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, David and Alice Murphy, as well as several extended family members and very close friends.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Murphy; son, Stephen Brunner-Murphy; grandchildren, Madison Bierer and Austin Brunner-Murphy; and siblings Leonard Murphy, Darrel Murphy, Marcia Murphy, Rosie Murphy, Tom Murphy, and Tim Murphy.

A funeral with military honors and celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Daly-Leach Memorial Chapel.
