Dolores "Dee" Sago, 83, of Corvallis passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, MT.
Dolores Ann Merta Sago was born on August 15, 1942, in Glassport, Pennsylvania, to John Merta and Gabriella (Kazmierowski) Merta. Growing up, Dee along with her family were members of Holy Cross Parish in Glassport, Pennsylvania.
Dolores met Robert “Bob” Sago, through a mutual friend and the two were married on October 13, 1962. During their reception they had the opportunity to view President Kennedy’s motorcade driving past their reception hall, he wished them “Lots of Luck” and they were married for over 50 years. Together they welcomed three children: Roberta, Rebecca, and Robert Edward. Dolores was a caring and selfless mother, always putting her children’s needs before her own. She loved the chaos of little feet scampering through the house.
In June 1974, they moved west to Corvallis, Montana, where they built their family legacy.
Dee quickly became involved in the community as a member of St. Francis Parish. She participated in St. Francis' Rosary Group and Prayer Shawl Group. She remained committed to volunteer work throughout her life, reflecting her dedication to both her community and her faith.
She worked for Corvallis School and Valley View Nursing Home before spending 25 years as a dedicated employee at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. After retirement, she returned to volunteer at the hospital. Dee's deepest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed camping and visiting Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge with her son and grandson. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, sewing, rubber stamping and quilting. Her talent was enjoyed by all those she loved.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gabriella Merta; her beloved husband, Robert Sago; her eldest daughter, Roberta Sago; and her sisters, Grace Merta and Margie Beckovich.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Sago; her son, Ed Sago; her grandson, Kaleb Sago and his wife, Brittany; and three great-grandchildren, Lennon, Matthew, and Bellamy. She is also survived by her niece, Colleen Smithyman, and her nephew, Kevin Beckovich.
Dee will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, dedication to service, and the love she shared with her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she so dearly loved.
