Douglas George Blair, Sr.

July 28, 1940 — June 28, 2013

Douglas George Blair, Sr. was called Home June 28, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Doug was born July 28, 1940 to Verna Mae and Ernest G. Blair in Wing River Township, MN. He grew up on the family farm. In February 1959, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served in San Diego, CA and Oahu, HI. Even after his honorable discharge in 1965 he proudly said "Once a Marine, always a Marine".
In 1966 Doug married and had four children. He owned and operated his own service station and was a volunteer fireman before moving to MT. He worked as a mechanic most of his adult life and could fix just about anything. He loved airplanes and spent a lot of time building and flying his remote control planes.
In 2003 Doug married Pat Mitchell of Hamilton, MT. They built a happy life and his hugs will be missed throughout the valley. He enjoyed fishing, delivering Meals-On-Wheels, being a volunteer park watcher and was a proud member of the Marine Corps League. His grandkids always brought a smile to his face and spoiling them became a favorite hobby.
Doug was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2011 and like the Marine he was, fought a valiant fight through it all. He had an amazing group of doctors and nurses that became friends.
Doug is loved by many and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife Pat Blair of Hamilton, MT, son Douglas Blair Jr. of Shepherd, MT, son Tim (Nan) of Joliet, MT, daughter Shawna Blair of Shepherd, MT, son Kyle (Christina) of Berthold, ND, step-son Gary Mitchell of Hamilton, MT, step-son David Mitchell (Niki) of Dickenson, ND and his beloved grandkids; Bailey, Angellynn, Timothy, Hannah, Emma, Zach, Lexi, Gavin, Aksel, Bryson, Aubrey and Michaela; siblings, Doris (Walter) Weber, Don (Connie) Blair, Darlene Blair and Dean Blair allof MN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Toys for Tots, Marine Corps League, Bitterroot Valley Detachment #937, Hamilton, MT.
