Edward Arnold Zerbst

July 29, 1955 — March 7, 2010

Edward Arnold Zerbst, 54, of Hamilton passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at his home. He was born July 29, 1955 in Shelby Montana to Arnold and Esther Zerbst.

Ed was raised in St Ignatius and graduated from St Ignatius (Mission High). From there he moved to Oregon and did various jobs, working for the city of Salem and working construction jobs. Then he showed an interest in law enforcement. He served on the police force as a reserve in Oregon. After moving back to Montana he sold insurance for Aid Association for Lutherans. He then received more training for the police department and served in Miles City for many years. Once he moved to Hamilton he continued his career with the Sheriffs department until he retired.

Ed enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, fishing and making people laugh. He was always pulling practical jokes on someone, or had some storey, or joke to tell. No matter how serious the situation was he would always find some way to make everyone laugh.

Ed is preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Arnold Zerbst, and his brother Gilbert Zerbst.

He is survived by his mother Esther Zerbst, Brother Donald Zerbst and special friend Sandy Shutters of Spokane WA., Sister Irene Gruber and her husband Jim of Marcus Iowa, several step-children and step grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews, the children of Don Zerbst: Connie Bach, Richard, John, Patrick and Christopher Zerbst, the children of Irene and Jim Gruber: Miriam Murray, Michelle Reimer and Joel Gruber and 6 great nieces and nephews (whom they all know as the favorite uncle!)

Pallbearers are Kim and Dave Cegler, Dale Young, Russ Patterson, Bryan Kercher, Scott Etter.
