HAMILTON - Effie Parker Sculley, 87, of Hamilton passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Discovery Care Centre of natural causes. She was born March 9, 1924 in Hamilton the daughter of Lewis and Oltie Irene Cross.
Effie was raised and educated in Kansas. She had to quit school to raise her two brothers and help with the house hold because her mother was ill. Effie was married to Clarence Parker and together they had 3 children, he passed away in December of 1986. She then married Jim Sculley and he passed away in November of 1992.
Effie worked for Dr. Benson, a Chiropractor, for several years. She enjoyed going fishing and you could always tell if it was a good day fishing, if Effie caught the first fish it was going to be a great day. A good day of fishing was always followed by a lot of laughter and trout for dinner. Effie and Jim always had a huge garden and she loved canning fresh vegetables.
Other than her husbands, Effie was also preceded in death by her sons, Travis and Joe Parker; her step-son, Sidney Sculley; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Deloris Barta and husband Richard of Stevensville; 3 brothers, Roy, Bob and Dan Cross; 1 grandson, David Barta of Hamilton; and 3 great-grandchildren, Waylon and Madison Barta of Victor and Karla Ann Barta of Las Vegas, NV.
