HAMILTON - Eileen Spannuth, 88, of Hamilton passed away August 12, 2012 at the Discover Care Centre in Hamilton. She was born October 1, 1923 in Chadron, NE the daughter of Agnes and Wilbur Deffenbaugh.
The family later moved to Broadus, MT where Eileen graduated from high school before attending business school in Great Falls. Her parents moved to Hamilton in 1943 and she later joined them. This is where Eileen met and eventually married Ed Spannuth in 1945. Together they lived on a ranch east of Hamilton. During this time she helped at home and also worked at JC Penny. Ed and Eileen later built the Arctic Center in 1975, where they sold snowmobiles, motorcycles and ceramics. Eileen and her friend, Dorothy Switzer, then opened a gallery selling local art products and ceramics. Eileen was gifted in her hobbies and spent a lot of time with art guild activities. Together with her husband, Eileen and Ed spent their spare time doing many varied activities with family and friends. When they retired they spent several years traveling in their motorhome and wintering in Nevada and Arizona.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carl; and her grandson, Taff Spannuth. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ed, of Hamilton; sons, Gary (Jan) Spannuth and Robert (Darolyn) Spannuth; her granddaughters, Vici (Victor) Gonzales and Lisa (Jason) Logman; great-grandson, Ben; sister, Betty Kester and her family; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Deffenbaugh and her family.
Eileen was a very happy person who loved her family and friends.
