Elise Marie Newgard

Hamilton - Elise Marie Newgard, 76, of Hamilton passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015. Her husband of 57 years and their children were in attendance at the family home. Elise was born October 10, 1938 in Thompson Falls, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Elise Soule.

Elise grew up in Thompson Falls and enjoyed an active childhood filled with music, 4H and school drill team. She attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA.

Elise married Chellis Newgard on September 7th, 1957 and together they traveled the state while Chellis worked for the Phone Company. In 1963 they moved to Hamilton when Chellis began a career with the Montana Power Company.

Elise was a treasured Mother, friend and community member. Many will remember her as their Girl Scout Leader or as one of the founding women of the Bitterroot Quilt Guild. She was active and enjoyed camping, boating, sewing, singing, bowling, playing pinochle and mahjong.

Elise is survived by her husband Chellis; sister, Mary (LeRoy) Welch of Moberly, MO; 4 children, Roberta (Allen) Burruss of Corvallis, Christy (Wes) Glasser of Connor, Charles Newgard of Hamilton, and Myrna (Mike) Noah of Bozeman; 12 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
