CORVALLIS - Elmore [Elmer] Henry Tintzman, 83, of Corvallis passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Marcus Daly Hospital of a blood infection.
He was born June 18, 1929 at New Leipzig, North Dakota to Henry and Pauline Dietz Tintzman, the oldest of four children.
At the age of six, Elmer came with his family to Montana and settled in the Bitterroot Valley north of Corvallis. They later moved to a farm on Willow Creek Road which is still in the Tintzman family. He attended Corvallis schools. In January of 1951, Elmer enlisted into the U. S. Navy and attended Great Lakes boot camp in Illinois. In May 1952, he married Gayle Anfinson in Hamilton and for two and one half years they remained in southern California for his tour of Navy duty. In November of 1954, Elmer returned to Montana and farmed in partnership with his father-in-law.
He served on the board of the F.H.A. and A.S.C.S. and also served on the Corvallis school board. For many years Elmer was a timer for the Hamilton and Corvallis track meets and he also coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball in Corvallis for fourteen years. Elmer was a member of the Corvallis American Legion #91 and Grace Lutheran Church of Hamilton. He attended all of his grandchildren's functions and loved all athletic events, especially the Corvallis Blue Devils. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed most dearly by all of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray and Don; and sister, Alta. He is survived by his wife Gayle; sons, Terry [Judy], Steve [Cheryl] and Bret [Dori]; grandchildren, Dan [Erin], Kerry Jo, Tina, Kristin [Shane], Cory [Christina], Brandon
