Ernest Theodore Pfyffer, 91 of Hamilton, went to be with his savior, November 21, 2011 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care Center.
Ernest was born October 18, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Theodore and Olga Cooper Pfyffer. He was educated at Our Lady of Lourdes School through the eighth grade. He completed his last two years of High School at Lane Technical School.
In 1937, he moved to the Bitter Root Valley with his parents and farmed until Sept. 1942. On Sept. 20, 1942 Ernest was inducted into the Army during WWII and served with the 3217th Signal Service Battalion until Jan 14, 1946 when he was discharged.
On April 17, 1947 he married Marlys Pfeifer in Hamilton, Montana. The couple raised four daughters and a son.
Ernest worked at the Rocky Mountain Lab for 20 years and worked as a Janitor at Ravalli County Bank for 22 years. Following retirement in 1982 the couple traveled all over the U.S. and Hawaii. He was a member of the Golden Age Club where they loved to dance. Ernest was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ellen Liebel.
Surviving include Wife, Marlys of Hamilton; Daughters, Terry (Jerry) Romanyszyn of Spokane, WA, Penny (Sam) Ewalt of Columbia Falls, MT, Vickie (Eric) Martinez of Denver, CO, Patsy Mills of Helena, MT; son, Larry (Teena) Pfyffer of Missoula, MT; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; nephew, Robert Karstens of Hamilton, MT; niece, Judy Karstens of Baker City, OR.
