Hamilton - Esther Popenhagen, 87, of Hamilton died April 19, 2012 at Marcus Daly Hospital. She was born December 25, 1924 in Romona, South Dakota, daughter of Leopold and Erna Beyer.
Bob and Esther moved to Hamilton in 1987. Her life in Hamilton was spent enjoying her family, friends, and beautiful yard and flowers gardens. They were members of Faith Lutheran Church, and enjoyed dancing at the Golden Agers and playing pinnacle.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Louise, Angeline, and Carolyn, and brothers Art and Donald. Esther is survived by husband Bob; children, Gary (Mary) Harwood, Connie (Rick) Peterson, Roger (Jody) Harwood, Jeff (Barb) Harwood, Joy (Carl) Naldrett, and combined family Joan (James) Perry, Janet (Don) Haeker, Susan Finely, Barb (Ron) Hansen, Patti (Craig) Haas, Russell Popenhagen, Amy Popenhagen, and Rick (Jenifer) Popenhagen; 37 combined grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, Peyton Mckenna. She is also survived by siblings, Dorothy, Donna Mae, Evelyn, and Darlene all of Madison, South Dakota. Esther is Truly Loved and will be Greatly Missed.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Faith Lutheran Church or the Golden Agers.
