VICTOR - On July 12, 2026 Ethel Louise Moe Harris passed away at Bee Hive Homes in Hamilton.
Ethel Moe was born January 25, 1938, one a cold and snowy day at her grandmothers home, in Charlos Heights, Montana. Doris and Carl Moe were the proud parents, Ethel was the oldest of four girls.
Her school years started at the Charlos Heights church and included schools in Seeley Lake, Arlee, Darby, Hamilton and she graduated from Missoula County High School. She married the love of her life, Donald L Harris on March 22, 1956.
The Bitterroot Valley was their home, except for a brief time in Portland, OR. The couple loved the valley, and owned several businesses over the years. Ethel’s favorite was the flower shop, “The Flower Corner” and later the family bought a wholesale florist business, Harris Wholesale.
Ethel’s other love was horses, She was President of the Bitterroot Mountettes and a charter member of the Saddle Tramps. Early family vacations were on horseback in the Bitterroot Mountains, camping fishing and exploring. Don and Ethel were members of the Boots and Calico Square Dance Club, and helped start the Five Valley Accordian Club. Ethel volunteered as afternoon rodeo secretary of the Ravalli County Fair, was a 4H leader, and volunteered at the Bitterrot Competitive Trail Rides.
Ethel was a hands-on Grandma, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, she would beam with smiles at the mention of their names.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Don Harris; her parents, Carl & Doris Moe; and two sisters, Lois Hunter and Elna Foust.
She is survived by her sister Wilma Foley of Otis Orchard, WA; her three children, Paul (Diana) Harris of Lewistown MT, D.J. (Karen) Harris of Victor and Darlene Harris of Victor; and her much loved 9 grand- children and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of a long Life will be held Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Daly-Leach Chapel with a reception following in the funeral home's community room.
