Evelyn Asper Griffin 89, of Corvallis passed away Friday, May 03, 2013 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice Center in Hamilton.
Evelyn was born September 9, 1923 in Harrisville, Utah to the late Orson Elias and Evelene Geisler Asper. She was the second of four children, sister to Claude, Fern and Betty.
She attended school and graduated from Rigby High School in Rigby, Idaho. After she graduated she married Henry Alfred Griffin on January 14, 1943 and the couple was sealed at the Idaho Falls Temple.
In 1950, they moved to a small farm in Corvallis, Montana. After a few years Henry started the Dairy. Evelyn raised a large garden and also raised chickens. She enjoyed displaying items at the fair to include flowers, soap and food items. She won many ribbons for her entries. She enjoyed flowers, especially dahlias, African violets and geraniums.
Evelyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Corvallis Ward. She led singing for the congregation for 30 years. She also served as Relief Society secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1993; daughter, Linda Kay, three grandchildren and two siblings.
She is survived by her children, Clair (Judy) of Corvallis, MT., Wendell (Rosemary) of Dillon, MT., Jan (James) Orr of Couer d'Alene, ID., Lorna Griffin of Huntington Beach, CA., Milan J. (Charlotte) of Heber City, UT; Step-children, Ron (Marolyn) Griffin and Leah Mae Buhler; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
