Evelyn Marie Leete

Evelyn Marie Leete of Hamilton passed away at her home on November 21, 2012, with her family by her side.
Born June 4th, 1919 in New York City, New York to Frederick and Mary Schilling, the family moved to Pleasantville, New York where she remained until her early adult years.
During a visit with family members in upstate New York, she met and married Robert John Leete in Ogdensburg, New York on June 14, 1941 where they lived until the beginning of World War II and Robert's entrance into the armed services. During his deployment to the European theater of war, Evelyn relocated to Los Angeles, California where she was employed by Douglas Aircraft and worked on the SBD Dauntless navy bomber until returning to New York after the end of the war and Robert's return from Europe.
They resided in Ogdensburg, New York immediately after the war before returning to Los Angeles in 1947, where Robert became a member ofthe Los Angeles Police Department and they raised their family until Robert's retirement from the LAPD and their relocation to Hamilton in the fall of 1969.
While raising her family, Evelyn worked endlessly in charitable efforts for under-privileged children. She was the consummate homemaker, mother and wife who enjoyed entertaining and who's meals always kept her husband in good supply of friends hoping for an invitation to dinner.
She loved the holidays incorporating old tradition with her own creation and flair that created memories family and friends still like to reminisce about. Her thoughts, concerns, prayers and efforts were always to the benefit of others; she truly was a selfless person.
During her last visit to an old family friend, the last thing he said to her was, "Love you Ev, always have, always will. .. " He spoke well for all of us.
Her husband preceded her in death on August 8, 2003.She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Carol Thomas of Klamath Falls, Oregon and son Robert Scott Leete of Hamilton, Montana; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
