HAMILTON – F. Carol Edmonds, age 91 of Hamilton passed peacefully in the comforts of her home August 29, 2022. Born Frances Carol in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Wayne and Frances Furstenberger.
Raised in Altadena, California, from the age of three, and attended grade school and middle school in Altadena, and high school at Pasadena City College. She started working as a nurse’s aide, in 1949, at St. Luke Hospital, in Pasadena. Carol married John G. “Jack” Edmonds in 1952, and moved to Berkeley, as Jack was finishing his law degree there. She worked at the University of California Library until her first child was born. From 1962-1969, Carol worked at Alta bates Hospital, then moved to Hamilton, Montana. Jack taught at the Victor School and served on the city council for fourteen years.
Carol retired from her nursing career with Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital after twenty-seven years and then worked for Valley View Estates for an additional eight years. She kept herself busy as a past president of Eagles Auxiliary, in Hamilton, a member of P.E.O Chapter BV, and when her children were young, helping out with Cub Scouts and Brownies. She enjoyed making caramel corn for her family and friends, embroidery, crocheting, and time spent visiting with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years; sons, Bobby (3 years old) and John (13 years old); her parents; sister, Jan Logsdon; and brother-in-law, Rick Noel.
She is survived by her children, Carol Jean Edmonds, and Thomas Edmonds, both of Hamilton, Montana; granddaughters, Melissa Easley and Dana Day; four great-grandchildren; sister Ann Noel, of Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and a nephew.
Carol wished to have only a graveside service, which will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Carol’s name to: Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, or Guide Dogs for the blind, or Bitterroot Health Hospice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
