Floyd G. Lamson, 91, of Hamilton passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at home. Born on August 4, 1922 in Brighton, VT, he is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Hamilton, his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Janet of Manchester, CT, his son-in-law, Michael Mertins, of Hamilton, two grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. Floyd was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Mertins of Hamilton.
Floyd was raised in northern Vermont and in Derry, NH where he attended school graduating from Pinkerton Academy in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from 1940 to 1942 and as a 1st Lieutenant from 1942 to 1946 including a tour as a Unit Commander in the Tank Destroyer Unit of the Sixth Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations.
He was employed by the Western Electric Company in Haverhill and North Andover, MA where he retired in 1977. Floyd and Marilyn were avid world travelers covering Europe, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East, and most of the United States. They enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and became involved as officers and board members of the international organization.
There are no calling hours and burial will be private at the wishes of the family.
