Frank T. Huber 92 of Hamilton passed away Saturday May 23, 2009 at Valley View Estates , where he had resided the last three years.
Frank was born September 4, 1916 in Hamilton to Switzerland natives Franz and Lonza Huber. He was on a ranch west of Woodside and lived his entire life in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley, which he loved.
Frank Graduated from 8th grade at Corvallis. He later worked for a time at the Wetzsteon ranch in Sula. At a dance at the Sula Clubhouse, he met the love of his life Helen E. Clark. They were married September 24, 1934 at the young ages of 16 and 18. To this marriage came two children Bette J. and James F. Frank worked on the building of the West Fork Dam and at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory. He drove logging truck for Taber Mill, and worked as an apprentice electrician for G and R Electric. Later Frank started his own business, Frank's Motor Repair, which he operated until his retirement.
Frank loved to hunt deer and elk up the West Fork, was an avid gardener, hard worked, friend to all and always ready to five a helping hand to anyone in need be it night or day. He was a member of the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and also served on the Hamilton City Council. Frank had a special talent for yodeling, which he learned at a very young age. He often entertained his grandchildren and great grandchildren with this talent, much to their delight. Helen preceded him in death after 53 years of marriage in 1987. He later married longtime family friend Ruby Ballweber. They enjoyed several years together until her death in February 2006.
When his health failed Frank resided at Valley View Estates. His infectious smile and yodeling brought much happiness to the dedicated and special workers in the North wing, even on the day of his passing.
Frank was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred, and John and sister Frances, and by his son-in-law Frank Bedey. He is survived by Daughter Bette J. Bedey of Hamilton, and son Jim (Kathy) Huber of Louisville, Kentucky, his grandchildren David, Gary and Jeff Bedey, Jennifer (Bedey) Ray, Alison (Huber) Norris, Susan (Huber) Remaly, and David Huber, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
