HAMILTON - Francis Alexander Langevin Jr. passed away Monday, October 17, 2022. Frank, as he was known to his acquaintances, and Dad to his daughters, was welcomed into this world by his parents, Henrietta “Nora” and Frank O Langevin Sr., on January 4, 1928, in Butte Montana.
As a child, Dad delivered newspapers for the Montana Standard and loaded coal for his dad making $10 per load. He graduated from Butte Central High School, then studied at Montana State University, in Bozeman.
In September of 1946, during WWll, Dad enlisted in the U.S. Airforce, with the AACS (Air and Air Command Communication Service Group). He was a draftsman stationed in Puerto Rico and the United States. Dad received the WWll Victory Medal and was honorably discharged as a Buck Sergeant, in 1949.
Dad married the love of his life, Dorothy Marie Erickson, on August 4, 1956, in Butte and were later blessed with four daughters. Dad worked for the Anaconda Co., in Utah, and then moved on to driving truck for Yellowstone National Park, and for Petrolane, delivering propane. Many years later, they moved to Missoula, Montana, where he worked for the Montana Power Co. and then transferred Hamilton, where he retired as the gas foreman for Northwestern Energy (formerly Montana Power Co). Later, he worked as a reserve deputy with the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office and was also juvenile detention officer for many years.
Dad was also a life-time member of the VFW and American Legion.
Dad passed peacefully at the family home, here in Hamilton, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Nora; his brother, Dick Langevin; his daughter, Sherry (18); and his grandson, Michael (4) to cancer.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Marie; three daughters, Nora (Terry) Schallenberger, Laura Notman, and Frannie Langevin; 6 grandkids and 7 great grandkids.
Our family had a private graveside service with military honors by the U.S. Airforce and American Legion, at the Corvallis Cemetery on October 24, 2022. Deacon Jim Kaney officiated.
Forever there will be an emptiness in our hearts. Dad we love you!
