Frederick "Rick" Fuhrman

Frederick (Rick) E. Fuhrman, 74, of Hamilton, Montana passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana.  He was born July 7, 1942 in Menlo Park, California, son of late Frederick E. and Ruth Wiggers Fuhrman.

Rick was raised in Palo Alto, California.  He received a full ride scholarship to Whitman College and Columbia University, where he earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering.  Rick lived in San Francisco, California where he worked as a management consultant for large corporations and banks.  In 1989 he relocated with his son, Frederick E. Fuhrman , to Hamilton, Montana.

Rick was currently serving as a board member of the Bitterroot Public Library Board of Trustees and had previously served on the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority, providing sound advice and support to their projects and growth.

Rick was passionate about learning, and his meticulous attention to detail allowed him to provide invaluable counsel and guidance to friends and family.  He was a loyal friend and devoted father, always encouraging his loved ones in all their endeavors.  Rick spent his retirement guarding the Bitterroot Mountains, swimming, hiking, and traveling with his loving partner, Christine Coffin.  His smile and exuberant attitude towards life will be eternally missed by his family and friends.

Rick is survived by his partner, Christine Coffin; his son Rick and wife Feli Fuhrman; his brother John and wife Marilyn Fuhrman; and his two nephews John Fuhrman, and Pete and wife Kara Fuhrman.

In good “old” Rick’s style, There will be a Celebration of Life for Rick on: Friday, October 7, 2016 at 3:00 pm On the Grounds At The Daly Mansion, 251 Eastside Highway, Hamilton, Montana 59840, In keeping with Rick’s wishes, attire is casual.
