Garry Lee Garfield

April 12, 1943 — July 17, 2022

Garry Garfield, 79, died on July 17, 2022, at his home in Hamilton, Montana, after a seven-year battle with cancer. His funeral service will be held this Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Daly-Leach Memorial Chapel in Hamilton.

Mr. Garfield was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1943. At the age of 10, he moved to Brea, California. Garry graduated from high school in 1961 where he played football and ran track. After graduation, he started working for Beckman Instruments based in Fullerton. At the age of 22, Garry was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, chosen for Military Police School, and spent 2 years in Germany as a Military Policeman. After his service, Garry returned to Brea and continued working for Beckman Instruments. Garry met Janice a short time later, who also worked for Beckman Instruments. They were married a year later on June 1, 1968. Garry and Janice moved to Fullerton where they welcomed their son, Garry Jr., in 1973, and their daughter, Sheila, in 1975. Garry and his family moved to Hamilton, Montana, in 1987. Garry officially retired from Beckman Instruments in 1991. While enjoying his retirement, he loved to play guitar while entertaining at senior centers across the Bitterroot Valley. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends while living in Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, his son, Garry Jr (and Heather), his daughter, Sheila (and Mark), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
