Gary Arthur Anderson, 88 of Hamilton passed away January 31, 2026 at Valley Health and Rehab in Hamilton.
Gary was born July 14, 1937 in Petaluma, California. He served in the Navy from 1954 to 1958 where he was a Quarter Master on the USS Los Angeles. (CA 135).
Gary moved to Montana in 1983 and started work for the US Forest Service at the Sula Ranger Station from 1988 to 2001. He then transferred to the Darby Ranger Station from 2001 to 2011 where he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary; daughters Kari Stumph, Sheri Lopez, Kelli Mink and Kerri Leavell; sons, Kevin McGaffey and Korey McGaffey; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Per Gary’s request his urn will be placed at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Missoula with Military Honors presented by the US Navy.
