Gary R. Greer

May 15, 1943 — October 30, 2013

HAMILTON - Gary R. Greer passed away on October 30, 2013. He was born in Ogden, Utah on May 15, 1943 to Ray and Lucille Greer. He served in the military from 1960 - 1963. He worked for many years at Hill Air Force Base. In 1962 he married Charmaine Maltby and had two children, Paula and Wayne. They later divorced. On April 15, 1981 he married Bonnie Halliday. From these two marriages came six wonderful children. Paula (Curtis) Price, Wayne (Tracy) Greer, Michael (Amanda) Greer, Petrice (Jason) Eisele, Carol (Andy) Hauser, and John Greer. They have numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and still counting!

In 1981 he and Bonnie packed up the "crew" and moved to Montana and began a wonderful journey together that would last for more than 32 years. They found a home up Sleeping Child creek and some of the most wonderful friendships began there. The strongest friendship and greatest blessing began when they both met Jesus through bible studies. He truly loved Jesus and shared that love in so many ways with all who knew him. Of course he had a habit of sharing the "water of life" with a fire hose at times!

He was the most kind and generous man that enjoyed life, old cars, playing the guitar, telling stories, and a good practical joke. He was a devoted family man who loved his family unconditionally. Even as his health continued to fail he kept his crazy sense of humor. If he forgot something he was quick to remind everyone of his "bullet in the brain" and the tumors and kept us laughing. His favorite times were sitting around the campfire discussing new inventions, playing the guitar and singing songs with family and friends! Anyone who knew him would know his favorite weather would be "63' and overcast!"

He began "Eagle Irrigation" with his family and most of his customers became friends. Gary had a way of making everyone feel special. He also had a custodial service and worked at Ravalli County Bank for over 25 years.

We would like to thank Dr. Gus Varnavas and Dr. Pete Sorini whose faith and surgical skills helped Gary to have many more years with us. A very special thanks to Dr. Selbach for her outstanding care and support of Gary and his family. You are truly the finest example of what a physician should be! Thanks also to Lillian, Don and all of the VA Medical Staff and the wonderful doctors and nurses at St. Patrick's Hospital. You all made a difficult time so much easier.

He had such special love and tremendous support from his church family which encouraged and strengthened all of us. He had a special friend and "brother" in Boyd Cobb who was always there for him no matter what! Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on with the stories we will be able to share together.

Gary is survived by his wife Bonnie, his children, brother Ken Greer and sisters Fern Pearson and Carol Gunnarson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Fay Greer.

Donations may be made to Quiet Hour Ministries or Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) via the Hamilton Seventh Day Adventist Church.
