Gary Ben Mai ascended into Heaven on August 18, 2010. He was born on January 26, 1942 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ben and Helen Mai. Gary graduated from Filer High School in 1960 he was a great athlete and loved basketball, football, track and baseball. He received his certification in Auto Mechanics from Idaho State University in 1964.
Gary married Margie Anne Frost in August of 1963. The coupled moved to Rupert, Idaho and purchased a large farm living there until 1986. They raised four children and were married until 2004.
Gary enjoyed building custom golf clubs. He loved the outdoors especially snow skiing and warm weather fishing and hunting with his family. Gary was a loving father and grandfather and never knew a stranger, always lent a helping hand. Gary later became a long haul truck driver working for England and Giltner trucking companies. He enjoyed traveling across the United States where he would get to see his children and grandchildren.
Gary retired in 2003 and moved to Hamilton, MT. He was a member of the Buhl, Idaho United Methodist Church, and a long time member of the Rupert United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Rupert, Idaho Jaycees and the Hamilton Eagles Lodge.
- He as preceded in death by: Parents Ben and Helen Mai, his brothers Les and Johnny Mai and daughter-in-law Heather Mai.
- He is survived by his children Ed Mai (Oak Ridge, TN) and his children James, Christina and Sascha. Tony and Cindy Mai (Scott Depot, WV) and their boys Garret and Griffith: Teresa and Gilbert Roberts (Hamilton, MT) and their girls Callie and Elizabeth: Eric and Stephanie Mai (Meridian, ID) and their girls Kierra and Kallyn: He is also survived by his brother Dennis and his wife Sherri Mai (Filer, ID) and their two daughters Denny and Julie and their families: Sister-in-law Tammy Mai and her family Curtis and Lisa Mai and Tiffany and Gunner Ganske.
- - The family has set up the Gary Mai Memorial fund at First Security Bank P.O. Box 393 in Hamilton, MT 59840.
