Gene Nulliner, 75, of Hamilton, Montana, beloved husband and best friend of Vonnie Nulliner for 53 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved on May 23, 2012.
Gene was born in Hamilton, where he lived growing up, and moved to Missoula after his marriage to Vonnie. He recently moved back to Hamilton.
He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958.
Gene worked in the logging industry in Bonner, MT. He had many longtime coworkers, of which several became his close friends.
Gene enjoyed the outdoors, camping with his family, hunting and fishing. He spent numerous hours restoring his father's tractor, which later became his pride and joy. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Vonnie. Most recently, they traveled to Alaska with their dear friends Art and Carol Bailey.
Besides his wife, Vonnie, Gene is survived by three children: Larry Nulliner (Diana), Gary Nulliner (Anita), and Carla Toliver (Scott). He had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Dewey and a sister, Mae Fifield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Margrete Nulliner, his brother, Louie Nulliner and his sister, Betty Jewell.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jen Slayden and the members of the Edgewood Vista Estates. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last two months were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
A memorial service will be held honoring Gene on May 27, 2012 at 2:00 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bonner, MT. Pastor Jean Larson and Pastor Brenda Satrum will officiate.
