George Leroy Frost of Corvallis passed away August 14, 2015 in Hamilton. George was born on June 27, 1934 in Hamilton Montana. He was the third of 4 children born to Alfred B. Frost and Nellie Yerian Sparman. He was raised east of Corvallis, going to grade school in the one room school house on Hamilton Heights Road, (which is located across the road from our family home), George graduated from Corvallis High School where he played basketball and football.
George served in the active Army from 1956-1958 and then in the Army Reserves through 1962. He spent his active service years in Germany as a Construction Foreman, building bridges. Upon his return to the states he partnered with his father to run the family ranch.
George married Marilynn Weber of Hamilton in 1961. Together they raised 3 children Julie, Kevin and Randy on the Frost Ranch. Julie is currently residing in Juneau Alaska and Kevin and Randy in Corvallis.
George enjoyed sports and watching his children and grandchildren compete throughout the state over the years. George spent his life raising cattle and farming, fixing fences, and all of the other chores that come along with family ranching. He had a special love for horses and shared that love with his children and grandchildren. George's uncle, Charlie Yerian was instrumental in nurturing his love for working with draft horses. George trained several teams of Belgians of which his pride and joy were Jerry and Gretchen. In the early years of his draft horse driving he enjoyed taking them to the fair to participate in the pulls and the precision driving, but his passion was taking his team to the many parades in the valley and to the yearly farm fair where the 4th graders of the valley learned the different aspects of farming. He was known throughout the neighborhood for taking neighbors, friends and visitors for wagon rides.
Later in life, George began participating in the gardening exhibits at the Ravalli County Fair. His took especially great pride in the many blue ribbons that he won for his pears. These pears caught the attention of a valley horticulturist who developed the Frost Pear Trees which can now be purchased at several local nurseries.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his step mother Edith Frost; his brother Robert Frost and sister Jackie Fierce. George is survived by his Wife: Marilynn, children: Julie, Kevin, and Randy; grandchildren: Chris, Wendy, Katelyn, Treyden, and Kellyonna, his brother Bill and numerous nieces and nephews.
