George Gerald "Jerry" Else

George Gerald Else (Jerry) died peacefully with his wife and family at his side on May 22, 2024 in Hamilton, Montana at the age of 91.

Jerry was born November 26,1932 in Anaconda, Montana and grew up on ranches in the Big Hole Valley. He went to school in a one-room schoolhouse there, then attended Anaconda High School and graduated from Dillon High School in 1951.

He married Betty June Lindquist in 1953. Jerry's interests included calling square dances and polka dancing, serving his country in the Navy and riding saddle-broncs on the Navy's first rodeo team, participating in the Jaycees, Bitterroot River Racing and piloting his own airplane. His livelihood and expertise was in raising registered Angus cattle and he proved his entrepreneurial skills by establishing and successfully operating Ham-Mont Egg Company.  He had an unmovable belief in our Lord God and was a steady, faithful example to our family.

Jerry is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Lee, Kim, Shawn, Andy and Gary and their spouses; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Weldon Else and Martha Estella Else; his brother, Kenneth and infant sibling; daughter-in-law, Martha Crawford Else; and son-in-law, Richard Milstead.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, and an extraordinary father, grandfather and great-grandfather and we celebrate the wonderful influence he has on our family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Daly-Leach Chapel with a reception following in the funeral home’s community room.  Interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.  In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Bitterrroot Hospice in Hamilton MT.
