Georgie Elda Ross Mathews Wickberg, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed into Life Eternal on June 3, 2012 at the age of 85.
- Mom was born in Chester, Montana on December 20, 1926, the seventh child of George and Martha Ross. She attended school in Chester throughout her early years. She was blessed with a large family and a large circle of friends. She will be remembered as a very loving mother of five children and many grand and great-grandchildren.
- Mom was a very talented artist and china painter. She was gifted at writing and reciting poetry. She wrote poetry for many special families and friends' occasions in addition to her other poetry creations. A book has been printed with most all of her poetry that was written throughout her lifetime. The book and several examples of her china painting will be on display at her "Celebration of Life" service.
- Mom was first married to Les Mathews in 1943 for a period of 37 years. Mom and Dad lived in various places including Oaksdale, Washington, Spokane, Washington, Missoula and Hamilton, Montana. Together they raised five children. The family camped and boated a lot throughout their children's growing years including an exciting two week adventure camping trip on the beaches and boating in the San Juan Islands. While Dad pursued his career as a custom home builder, Mom worked many years in clerical administration. However, family was always first and she spent most of her time raising five rambunctious children.
- In her later years she married Floyd Wickberg of Philipsburg. They were married twenty-seven years until her passing. Several years ago, with declining health issues they moved to The Village Retirement Center in Missoula and made yet another circle of friends. Floyd continues to reside at this wonderful place.
- Throughout Mom's years her kind, gentle, loving and wise spirit guided her five children through their various stages of life always supportive in every way through development of spiritual growth, early and higher education endeavors, marriage and family relationships. All of these IOU's to Mom will be spoken at her "Celebration of Life" service.
- She was preceded in death by our beloved brother Harlan Hugh Mathews. She is survived by her husband Floyd Wickberg; children Bob (Linda) Mathews, Sacramento, California; Ed (Betty) Mathews, Missoula; Deanna (Dalton) Tessier, Missoula; and Marilyn (Rod) Nelson, Missoula; Marjorie Martin (a sister) of Regent, South Dakota; nine grandchildren: Alysa (Cary) Caulfield and Amanda Mathews of Sacramento, California; Melissa (Rob) Curtis of Seattle, Washington; Joni (Mike) Kelly of Stevensville; Mike (Marcy) Loranger of Port Richey, Florida; Destini (Gary) Tocci, El Paso, Texas; Darin (Natasha) Tessier of San Antonio, Texas; Ben (Shellie) Nelson of Bozeman and Nicholas (Sarah) Nelson of Pinehurst, North Carolina; nineteen great grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews.
