Gladys Lund Furtwangler - 10/18/1918 to 4/25/2017

Gladys was born Oct. 18, 1918 in Rudolph, Wisconsin to Arthur and Eva Akey Clark. Gladys was the 4th of 9 children. All siblings are deceased except for Clara her baby sister.

Gladys married Andrew Thomas Lund in 1941 while he was on leave from WWII service. Having lived and grown up in Mosinee, Wisconsin she moved with her family to Darby, MT. in 1956 to fulfill a dream of her husband Tom to live in the Bitter Root Valley.

After Tom passed away in 1991, Gladys married Edward Furtwangler in 1997.  Ed passed away in 2011.

Gladys was a very special lady who loved to cook and care for her family.  She was a member of Leona Chapter OES for 64 years serving as Worthy Matron in 1964-1965.  She was also very involved in her Church and her Bible studies.   She had many friends who loved her for her gentle nature and sweet temperament.  She handled the financial books for Western States Associates Real Estate and Lund Land and Cattle Company for many years – never losing her balance.

She leaves behind sons, Larry (B.J.) and children, Sheila Weber and Shawn (Shelley); Tom (Betty) and children, Tim (Claudi Jo) and Andy (Janice); Lorna Lund Schuyler (Charles) and children, Jason (Darla) and Lori Schuyler Luoma (Ryan); step children, Steve (Susan) Furtwrangler, Jocey Olsen (Seth) and Judy Geary and 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; also a special friend Judy Owings.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Gladys’ caregivers Molly, Cindy and Darla who Gladys also loved.  And our sincere appreciation and thanks to all the employees of Discovery Care Center

Family services will be in the summer. Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Dewit Childrens’ Rite Care Language Clinic, 1650 Jackson Dr. Missoula, MT 59802 or a charity of your choice.
