Glenn M. Ohl

July 3, 1923 — April 6, 2011

Glenn M. Ohl, 87, of Hamilton passed away Wednesday April 6th, 2011 at the age of 87 at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center. He was born on July 3rd, 1923 to Joseph and Cecile Ward, on the family homestead in Sula, MT, where the family barn still stands to this day.

He attended grade school at Hamilton Heights, and high school in Corvallis. After high school he was drafted into the army, where he served in New Guinea and the Philippines as an anti-aircraft gunner from 1943 to 1946. He always considered it a great honor to serve his country.

He married Cecelia Riley in July of 1946. He worked at the Quast ranch in Corvallis and later for Del Conner lumber and F.H. Stoltze lumber in Darby. He retired in 1985. He was a life member of the Bitterroot V.F.W. post 1430 and served on the board as a trustee for Springer memorial, where he had a cabin that he built with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ruth Miller and Mary Pendergraft; and his brother, Lewis Ohl. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cecelia; his four daughters, Glenda [Bob] Thompson, Margaret Ohl, Nancy [Tom] Morlock and Jean [Roger] Hansen; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Raudsep, Johnny Raudsep, Glen [Kari] Thompson, Jill [Justin] Kappan, Shawn Morlock, Melissa Morlock, and Kristi Wilson; and 6 great-grandchildren, Bradley, Darren, Cassie, Callie, Lexie, and Caleb.

He was a kind man with a strong heart and he lived life to its fullest. He loved hunting and fishing and tending to his sheep. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them whenever he could. He will be missed by all who knew him and the world is somehow a diminished place without him in it.

Memorials may be made to Marcus Daly Hospice Center.
