Grace I. Maki

October 23, 1935 — August 2, 2014

EVERETT, WA - Grace I. Maki, age 78, died peacefully on August 2, 2014, in Everett, Washington.

Grace was born October 23, 1935 in Mona, Utah to Roy and Georgina Ross . She was one of 6 children which included 3 brothers and two sisters.

In 1954 she graduated from Corvallis High School and started work as a phone operator for Mountain Bell.

On June 9, 1962 Grace married her husband George Maki and enjoyed 25 years together before he preceded her in death on July 2, 1987. George and Grace resided in Victor, Montana where they raised their 3 daughters.

Grace enjoyed bowling and played on several women's leagues. If she wasn't bowling, Grace could be found at her daughters sporting events where she reveled watching and never missed an event.

She was an active member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary and went through the chairs to President on two occasions. She was also a member of the Naomi Chapter 19 of Eastern Star in Victor.

In 2008, Grace relocated to Everett, WA. Here she renewed her love of gardening. Her tomato and cucumber plants flourished under her green thumb often times taking over her patio. Grace was a strong woman who overcame many adversities associated with diabetes and fought through life with an unwavering 'I Can Attitude'.

Grace is survived by her sister Fern Leonardi, and daughters Teresa Maki, Lenore Maki Hatch (Alan), Sarah Limesand (Kip) and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be sent in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
